Sa Sa Art Projects is pleased to welcome you to an open studio by Pisaot artists-in-residence Chou Chien Pang & Ko Tzu-An who will share works in progress from their past six weeks of residency.
Pang has been hosting a number drawing sessions with young students from the White Building. Together, they have shared and visualised personal and communal stories of the neighborhood they call home, a 1960s structure that has recently been announced officially by the government for “redevelopment.” These drawings were then transformed and compiled into a coloring book, narrating visual, living memories of this tightly knit community and historical architecture. Copies of the coloring book will be made available to children at the White Building neighbourhood and the larger public.
An, on the other hand, has been making a new series of performances of her Super Perfect Working Robot “Rich Ann.” Unsatisfied with the current conditions of labour market and structure, particularly in Taipei, Robot “Rich Ann” has been seeking and creating alternative jobs through various robot ways in Taipei and other cities. At the White Building, Robot “Rich Ann” sells special tea eggs as she encourages customers to reduce the use of plastic bags. She will also share her recipe of cooking tea eggs in Robot Rich Ann’s way.
Pang’s residency is supported by International Exchange Artist-in-Residence grant from the Ministry of Culture, Taiwan. Additional support for @pang and An's residency is from Foundation for Art Initiatives (FfAI).
