Artist Talk with Chou Chien Pang & Ko Tzu-An

An evening talk by current Pisaot artists-in-residence Chou Chien Pang and Ko Tzu-An from Taipei who will share about their respective work and practice. @pang’s residency is supported by International Exchange Artist-in-Residence grant from the Ministry of Culture, Taiwan. Additional support for @pang and An's residency is from Foundation for Art Initiatives (FfAI).

About Chou Chien Pang

Chou Chien Pang (b. 1979, Taipei), also known as @pang, came to practice art after being trained and having worked in law and politics. Incorporating drawing, installation, and performance, most of his work responds to issues of lacking human relation in contemporary societies. He searches for possibilities in humanity through a process of communication, exchange and co-creation.

His solo exhibitions include "Art Bus X Project Connection," at Bamboo Curtain Studio, Taipei (2016). Recent group exhibitions include "Macro-Micro-Actions," at Bamboo Curtain Studio, Taipei (2016); "Jinguashi Folk Beliefs," at Gold Museum , Taipei (2015-2016); Taipei Free Art Fair (2015); and 14th Artist Fair, at Taipei Expo Dome Park (2015).

His Art Bus project was selected by Bamboo Curtain Studio as part of its “Vision Exchange Project” in 2015-2016. @pang was an artist-in-residence at Ace House Collective, Yogyakarta, 2015 and at San Art, Ho Chi Minh City, 2014.

About Ko Tzu-An

Ko Tzu-An (b. 1986, Taipei) pays attention to mass consumer culture and the conflict between personal identities and constructed social values. Primarily working with performance, and usually in public spaces, An’s work explores how young generation navigates self-awareness and decisions when their various desires contradict with social values. An holds an MFA from Taipei National University of the Arts.

Her solo exhibitions include "Super Perfect Working Robot," Liarfake records, Chan Hua (2016); and "Ko Tzu-An Performance Video Exhibition," Nomad Museum, Taipei (2015). Recent group exhibitions include "Home Memory," Treasure Hill Artist Village, Taipei (2016); "The Double Shadow," YongHe Art Fundation, Taipei (2015); and "Nuit de la Création 2015," Versaille City Hall, Versaille (2015).

An was an artist-in-residence at YongHe Art Fundation, Taipei (2015-16) and will undertake one year residency at 435 Art Zone, Taipei (2016-17).
